Important Information for Displaced Educators
All educators who have been displaced from their positions for the fall need to attend the next meeting on Tuesday, June 17th 3:00–4:30pm at King College Prep (4445 S Drexel). Click here for more information.
At the displaced members meeting, we will discuss the following information, as well as how displaced teachers can be involved in fighting for a better contract and supporting one another.
CPS will be holding a third job opportunity event on July 19, 2012. The event begins at 12:00 p.m. It is by invitation to teachers displaced over the last three years (2010, 2011, 2012) who have not retired and who have not been re-employed by CPS. Those who have become DTD subs will be invited. Teachers in the Reassigned Teacher Pool have been invited as well. A total of 1600 invites have been sent. CPS says there are vacancies available and these events have been well attended by hiring principals.
CTU members who qualify will receive invitations from the Department of Talent Development.
- CPS websites will be down Saturday, July 14, 2012, between 6:00AM and 2:00PM to repair an electrical problem. The job application program will be down. This does not indicate any type of hiring freeze.
- CPS is having teachers in the Reassigned Teacher Pool assigned to Track E and Track R calendars. This is a change over past years and was intended to alleviate the “running out of deferred pay problem” that Track E teachers experience. But it may pose some unanticipated challenges so CTU and CPS work together to iron out any issues involved in this change.
- Lauren McClellan of CPS is conducting webinars for displaced teachers on Tuesday at 3 and 4 pm, during our informational meeting. The attendees at CTU's meeting will be provided with a link to the webinars for later viewing. Lauren is incorporating some slides on the job application program. CPS and CTU may organize a joint informational session in the future.
