Message from the teacher field staff coordinator

I hope everyone has had a pleasant start to the new year. I'd like to remind all new employees that their teaching certificates must be registered with both Chicago Public Schools as well as with the Illinois State Board of Education. This is critical for becoming tenured in CPS.

I also want to take a moment to remind you to contact the Grievance Department if you have any questions or concerns involving a work situation. We are more than happy to discuss any issues that you might have. If you feel something is not right we are just a phone call away to sort out the situation.

The Preamble of our Agreement states in part:
“…A free and open exchange of views is desirable and necessary, with all parties participating in deliberations leading to agreement in matters of mutual concern and to approaches that will increase the effectiveness of teachers and other bargaining unit members in the classroom and the community."

It is my sincere hope that each and every member will be operating under working conditions that respect these ideals -- they are fundamental to our agreement. We are committed to upholding all articles in the agreement and will never stop fighting to see that the rights of our members are respected.
