Critics force CPS to table charter vote

After hearing from a roomful of critics Wednesday, Chicago Public Schools decided to withdraw proposals for four new charter schools and plans to expand existing ones, including three new campuses each operated by Chicago Charter International School and the United Neighborhood Organization...

 

Said Chicago Teachers Union president Karen Lewis: "Today the board finally heard what the community has been saying for years. They want improved neighborhood schools and reject the charter model."
