Seventy-seven Percent of Chicagoans Want an Elected School Board
Elected school board: add your support
Tribune/WGN poll results for an elected school board in Chicago
We are asking individuals and groups to sign on in support of an elected school board for Chicago.
We’re in the majority, according to this Tribune opinion poll – 77% of Chicagoans want an elected school board!
Last December these groups announced a proposal for a representative elected school board process. Now we are looking for support from YOU!
We want you to sign on to this Open Letter on an Elected School Board which incorporates the proposed representative structure of 13 seats including 3 South Side parents/community, 2 West Side parents/community, 2 North Side parents/community, 2 teachers, 1 administrator, 1 academic, 1 paraprofessional/staff, and 1 business person.
The proposal also calls for open, accessible public meetings and an active youth advisory board.
If you wish to sign on to this important letter, please e-mail Norine Gutekanst, Organizing Department Coordinator for the Chicago Teachers Union, at norinegutekanst@ctulocal1.com
