Payroll Information
July 3, 2009, was payroll period 13. All teachers and PSRPs were supposed to receive a check for 10 days, 5 of those days are from days worked and 5 are from your extended bank. Several members have called the Union to report that their check was smaller than anticipated. The calendar, which is posted on our website, was generated by the CPS payroll department. The Union passed along information as it was received.
The proration of the extended bank covers 57 days. These days cover the period from June 15, 2009 through September 1, 2009. If you examine your paycheck from payperiod 12 and divide your deferred balance by 57 you will arrive at the daily summer deferred rate. Today’s check reflects 5 days at the regular rate of pay and 5 at the deferred rate.
Your next payroll check, on July 17, 2009, can be calculated by dividing the deferred balance at the end of today’s check (payperiod 13) by 52. That answer will produce the daily deferred rate of pay. Finally, multiply this number by 10 to arrive at the amount of money for payperiod 14.
The same calculations can be used for payperiods 15 through 18. Payperiod 19 (paid out on September 25) covers 2 days at the deferred rate. In addition, teachers and PSRPs will receive 8 additional days and the increased rate for 2009-10. Please see the tables in your contract book or on this website for information.
Finally, the payroll department issued checks to PSRPs indicating that the start and end date for payperiod 13 was from 6-14-09 to 6-27-09. This has an error. The payroll period is now the same for teachers and PSRPs. The days for today’s check (for all our members) include 6-07-09 to 6-20-09.
Below, you will find the information sent to us by the Board. I encourage you to use the personal calculator for 38.6, 42.6 and 46.6 employees to check your own figures.
